ALFRED & ANITA SCHNOG TRAVEL AWARD FOR HOLOCAUST STUDIES
2025 Student Travel Award Application

Application Deadline: February 15, 2025
Awards Announced: February 28, 2025

The Alfred and Anita Schnog Travel Award for Holocaust Studies provides grants of up to $4,000 to travel to international sites OR up to $3,000 for travel to domestic sites to engage in faculty-mentored applied learning projects examining the social, cultural, and geo-political forces that enabled the Holocaust to occur as well as its impact and legacy. The award is available to UNCW sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students with a GPA of 3.0 or above. Projects must be completed while students are enrolled in UNCW. For the 2024-25 academic year, up to four awards will be granted. Please note that all student travel must be pre-approved by the CHSSA Dean’s Office and Academic Affairs.

Successful applicants will demonstrate how the proposed applied learning project will explore a component of the Holocaust and how the project will enhance their experience at UNCW. Students granted Schnog Travel Awards, along with their faculty mentors, will meet (virtually if necessary) with their fellow awardees before departing. In Fall 2025, awardees will present posters at a Schnog Travel Award Project Showcase, which will be attended by members of the Schnog Family Foundation as well as members of the UNCW community. All travel must be completed by August 12, 2025.
